Spicy lentil soup

However, they are rich in proteins, complex carbohydrates, sodium, calcium, phosphorus, magnesium, iron, fiber, and vitamin B. And because they are rich in proteins and carbohydrates, this dish is ideal for after exercising to promote muscle recovery. Anyone can make a healthy soup! Yet, you often hear that it would take too much effort. In reality, that’s not the case at all! With the right ingredients, it takes little effort to put a healthy (meal) soup on the table. And it’s often much tastier too! Try this hearty lentil soup with fresh vegetables and cumin. Add some chili powder to make it spicy. The cumin seeds give the soup an Indian and exotic touch!

Spicy Lentil Soup Ingredients

  • 1.5 liters vegetable broth
  • 175 grams lentils
  • 2 celery stalks
  • 1 carrot
  • 80 grams mushrooms
  • 3 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1 clove of garlic
  • fresh parsley
  • 1.5 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1 tsp chili powder (to taste)

Preparation of Spicy Lentil Soup

  1. Warm up 1.5 liters of vegetable broth on the stove.
  2. Wash the celery and peel the carrot. Slice them. Set aside.
  3. Peel and chop the onion, slice the mushrooms, and finely chop or press the garlic.
  4. Place a soup or saucepan on the stove and sauté these ingredients in some coconut oil.
  5. Add the tomato paste and heat briefly.
  6. Season with pepper and salt.
  7. Add the warm broth and mix everything together.
  8. Now wash the lentils and add them to the broth along with the carrot and celery.
  9. Add the cumin seeds and chili powder. Stir.
  10. Let the soup simmer on low heat for about 30 minutes.
  11. The soup is ready when the lentils are soft. Season with pepper and salt if necessary.
Tip! Pre-soak the lentils to reduce cooking time and increase digestibility! (an hour is sufficient)
